The Swing Legacy
Our large repertoire is mostly big band swing music, and includes many big-band swing classics, hits, and theme songs, such as:
Count Basie’s “One O’Clock Jump”, “Shiny Stockings”, and “April in Paris”
Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train”, “Satin Doll”, and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”
Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood”, “String of Pearls”, “Moonlight Serenade”, and “Tuxedo Junction”
Benny Goodman’s “Sing Sing Sing”, “Don’t Be That Way”, and “Stomping at the Savoy”
Lionel Hampton’s “Flying Home” and Gene Krupa’s “Drum Boogie”
Also included are many fascinating obscure musical gems from the swing era.
A few numbers tend toward a classic Rhythm & Blues flavor — for example, “Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie” (Louis Jordan), “All Right, Okay, You Win” (Count Basie/Joe Williams), and “Night Train”.
We have enough Duke Ellington and Count Basie material in our book (see below) for a complete concert devoted to either one of these two important innovative jazz figures.
Each member of The Swing Legacy has extensive experience in a wide variety of musical situations, and a large repertoire of standard songs. So in addition to our library of written arrangements, we can improvise a version of practically any request (excluding contemporary pop and rock).
Any of The Swing Legacy arrangements listed below can be purchased.
